Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew lauds his side's defensive display against West Ham United as they bounce back after conceding four goals on the opening day of the season.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has admitted that he was pleased that his side bounced back defensively in their 0-0 draw with West Ham United.

The Magpies were hammered 4-0 on the opening day of the season by Manchester City, but put in a solid performance at St James' Park against the Hammers.

Pardew told reporters: "We had to dig in after Man City and show resilience. Defensively we couldn't have put in a better performance."

Newcastle face Fulham at home in their next Premier League game next week.
