Newcastle United maintain their unbeaten home record with a hard-earned win over Norwich City at the Sports Direct Arena.

Newcastle United survived a late barrage of pressure to record their first Premier League clean sheet of the season and claim all three points against Norwich City at the Sports Direct Arena.

Demba Ba scored the game's only goal on 19 minutes with a well-taken finish from 10 yards, following great play by Hatem Ben Arfa.

The Magpies spurned a gilt-edged chance to double their lead on the stroke of half time when Papiss Cisse ballooned his spot-kick over the bar, after Mike Williamson has been felled by Steve Morison.

Ben Arfa was denied by Canaries keeper John Ruddy, as the hosts continued their dominance early in the second period.

However, following the introduction of Grant Holt, Norwich began to pile pressure on Newcastle, who defended deep and did well to cope with a late aerial bombardment.
