Leeds United 'still owe money to former directors'

Leeds United were reportedly served with legal papers linked to outstanding debts owed to former directors of the club.

Leeds United were issued with a winding up order only 17 days after Massimo Cellino completed his takeover of the club, according to reports.

The Mirror claims that legal papers were lodged at the High Court after Sports Capital, a company linked to former director David Haigh, was said to be owed £1m by the Whites.

It is rumoured that the club are losing £1m a month and Haigh himself is believed to be owed £600,000.

The report also claims that former chief executive Paul Hunt and Andrew Flowers, of sponsor Enterprise Insurance, are also waiting for debts to be settled by Leeds.

Cellino, who paid £6m to Gulf Finance House to complete a takeover of the club last month, is ude to pay a £3m instalment as part of that deal.

Earlier this week, the Italian owner confirmed the arrival of Benito Carbone as the Yorkshire club's academy boss.
