Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta to miss Chelsea clash

PSG midfielder Thiago Motta is to miss his side's Champions League last-16 first leg against Chelsea through injury.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has been ruled out of tonight's Champions League last-16 first leg against Chelsea through injury.

The 32-year-old has failed to get over the calf problem that kept him out of Saturday's 2-2 draw with Caen.

PSG already have a number of key players missing for this evening's game in Paris, including Yohan Cabaye, Lucas Moura and Marquinhos.

Motta's agent Alessandro Canovi tweeted: "Thiago tried everything to be fit for [the match], but to play injured is impossible."

The Italian has made 27 appearances in all competitions for PSG so far this season.
