Late Kieron Dyer strike earns Queens Park Rangers replay

Kieron Dyer scores his first goal in five years to equalise in stoppage time and earn QPR an FA Cup third-round replay with West Brom.

Kieron Dyer scored a stoppage-time equaliser as Queens Park Rangers salvaged an FA Cup third-round replay with West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

The visiting Baggies had the better of the opening chances, but were dealt a double injury blow in the first half.

After George Thorne and Gabriel Tamas had both narrowly missed with long-range efforts, Zoltan Gera was forced off following a challenge with Park Ji-Sung.

His replacement, Marc Antoine-Fortune, screwed a shot wide from a good position before he too had to leave the field with injury.

Julio Cesar's fine save from Romelu Lukaku's header ensured the scores would be goalless at the break, and the stalemate continued into the second period.

After the interval, the on-loan Chelsea striker fired an effort across goal just pass the post, while DJ Campbell finally registered a notable effort for the hosts with his header which went just over the crossbar.

Shane Long thought he had won it for West Brom when his deflected 79th-minute strike wrong-footed Cesar and dribbled into the bottom corner.

However, Dyer earned QPR a replay with a close-range effort one minute into added time - his first goal since 2007.
