Former Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio reportedly holds discussions with Reading over replacing Brian McDermott at the Madjeski Stadium.

Paolo Di Canio is rumoured to be in discussions with Premier League strugglers Reading over becoming their new manager.

Brian McDermott was surprisingly axed on Monday and former Swindon Town boss Di Canio was immediately installed as one of the favourites to succeed him.

The Italian, who was in the Madjeski Stadium stands to watch Reading lose to Aston Villa on Saturday, has been out of work since quitting the Robins last month.

According to The Mirror, Di Canio held talks with the Royals just hours after McDermott was relieved of his duties.

Roberto Di Matteo and Nigel Adkins, both sacked by Premier League clubs this season, have also been linked with the vacancy.
