Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has admitted that he has 'forgotten' about Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe following the Frenchman's decision to stay in Paris.

Mbappe was widely expected to join Los Blancos this summer upon the expiration of his contract with PSG in June, with it consistently reported that terms had already been agreed over a free transfer move.

However, the 23-year-old shocked Real when he made a controversial U-turn on his future by deciding to extend his contract in the French capital on May 21.

The Spanish side and La Liga have since made legal complaints over the contract extension, but Perez appears to have moved on from the transfer saga following Real's Champions League win over Liverpool on Saturday.

When asked whether he was still frustrated about missing out on Mbappe after Real lifted their record-extending 14th European cup, Perez said: "Today there is no Mbappe, today there is a Real Madrid party.

"Madrid will always continue to work on having the best players. The Mbappe issue is forgotten, nothing has happened. Madrid has had a perfect season and it is a forgotten issue."

Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for Los Blancos over Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool at the Stade de France, which saw them lift the Champions League trophy for the fifth time in the last nine seasons.
