Aiden McGeady believes that the Republic of Ireland squad have been left "jaded" by recent training sessions.

Aiden McGeady believes that the majority of the Republic of Ireland squad have been left "jaded" by their recent training schedule.

Coach Giovanni Trapattoni recently took his side to Italy for a pre-Euro 2012 training camp, where the fitness of the players was believed to have been tested rigorously.

Speaking after last night's 0-0 draw with Hungary, winger McGeady has called upon the workload to be lessened ahead of the tournament next week.

"Training has been of such a high intensity that I think a lot of players felt a bit jaded tonight," McGeady told Sky Sports News.

"A lot of players were saying at half-time that they felt we were pretty sluggish on our feet. I think that was the overwhelming factor in the first half.

"In the second half we picked up a bit but perhaps we need to take it easy on the training."

Ireland open up their campaign against Croatia on Sunday.
