Fabio Capello has spoken of his happiness at being appointed the new manager of the Russian national team.
The Italian is believed to have agreed terms with the Russian Football Association over the weekend and will arrive in Moscow later this week to sign a contract.
Having been out of work since resigning as England coach in February of this year, Capello has revealed that he cannot wait to embark on his "splendid adventure".
"If everything is completed in the best possible way, I will be happy and proud," he told Ansa. "It will be a splendid adventure. Russia are a great nation."
The 66-year-old is expected to pen a two-year deal.
