Sinisa Mihajlovic has blasted his Sampdoria side for their profligacy in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Lazio.
The Blucerchiati slumped to their second successive home defeat, but things could have been different had Pedro Obiang and Samuel Eto'o not both missed open goals.
The result dented their hopes of Europa League qualification as Mihajlovic's charges stay one point behind sixth-placed Fiorentina, who have played a game less.
"Naturally it was better to win, or at least not lose, but we cannot have five or six chances every game to score one," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"Today we had three chances where it was tougher to miss than to score, yet we missed all of them. If you miss those, you deserve to lose.
"I'm not saying we would've won if we had scored any of those, but I don't believe we would have lost."
Sampdoria have two games left in which to salvage a Europa League place for next season.
