Southampton have reportedly made a bid for Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer.
Ronald Koeman is attempting to rebuild his squad, having already lost five players to Premier League rivals this summer, while Morgan Schneiderlin is also keen to leave.
According to The Independent, the Saints have tried to beat Chelsea to the 24-year-old by tabling an offer for the Argentina international.
Rojo has made 49 appearances for Sporting since joining the club in 2012.
