Belgian midfielder Moussa Dembele has dismissed the suggestion that he is a similar type of player to Luka Modric.
Dembele joined Tottenham Hotspur in August of this year from Fulham following the news that Modric had departed the club in favour of a switch to Spanish champions Real Madrid.
However, despite being signed to fill the void left by Modric, Dembele has insisted that he is "totally different" to the Croatian.
"Before I came to Tottenham, I was a big fan of Luka Modric," he told The Mirror. "For me, he was one of the best in England but I am a totally different player.
"He had different qualities and I have different qualities as well so I don't feel I have to do exactly what he did, I do my own game.
"I try my best to be as important as he was and that would be a great achievement."
Spurs parted with a reported £15m to capture Dembele's services.
