Tim Sherwood urges Tottenham Hotspur to improve form at White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood warns his team that they must improve their home form if they are to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood has warned his team that they must improve their home form if they are to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Following Liverpool's 5-1 win over Arsenal this afternoon, Spurs are six points below the fourth-placed Reds, although they do have a game in hand - against fellow top-four chasers Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Tottenham have taken just 18 points from 12 Premier League matches on home soil this term, while they have claimed 26 points from the same number of games on the road.

"The results haven't been great from the start of the season up to now at home," Sherwood told reporters.

"Funnily enough, in a very bad result against Man City (who won 5-1 at White Hart Lane in January), I thought the fans were magnificent, really stuck with us and we just hoped we could have made it a special evening. Unfortunately it didn't work for us, but it is vitally important that you win your home games.

"Our away record has been excellent, but if you're going to be top four you've got to play very, very well and get the results both home and away."

Following tomorrow's game with Everton, Tottenham's next three fixtures are away from home, as they visit Newcastle United, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Norwich City.
