Giovani Lo Celso has joined Villarreal on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old has been limited to just nine Premier League appearances and two starts so far this term, with neither of those starts coming under Antonio Conte.
Lo Celso was also wanted by Lyon on deadline day, but it is understood that Villarreal boss Unai Emery was a key factor in his decision to join the La Liga outfit instead.
"Giovani Lo Celso has joined La Liga side Villarreal on loan for the remainder of the season," read a short statement on Tottenham's official website.
"The Argentina midfielder joined us from Real Betis in 2019 and has made 84 appearances in our colours to date, scoring eight goals."
The Argentine's departure is the latest on a busy day for Spurs, who have also offloaded Tanguy Ndombele and Bryan Gil, in addition to signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.
Lo Celso, who has previous experience in La Liga with Real Betis, could make his debut for Villarreal against his former club on February 6.
