Juan Foyth has confessed that he wants to leave Estudiantes to play in European football, amid recent links with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 19-year-old emerged as a £5m target for the Lilywhites last month, despite appearing in just seven first-team matches for the South American club.
Foyth, used in each of Argentina's games in the recent Under-20s World Cup, has revealed that preliminary talks have already begun with Tottenham and he is interested in trying his luck in a new division.
"I found out about Tottenham's interest through social networks. I would like to play in Europe, if something comes up that convinces me and the club I will go," he told Radio Continental.
"I know that my agent and [president Juan Sebastian] Veron are travelling to speak with Tottenham. I am feeling relaxed. If I do go it is not because I want to, but rather to help the club out economically."
Foyth ruled out a move to Zenit St Petersburg, however, admitting that Russian football does not appeal to him.
