Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will not feature in the club's final pre-season friendly against Barcelona, amid talks over a possible move to Bayern Munich.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has not travelled to Barcelona for the club's final pre-season friendly, amid talks over a transfer to Bayern Munich.

The German club recently saw their third bid of £87m for Kane rejected by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who has set the striker's asking price at £100m.

The latest offer was initially said to be Bayern's final proposal, but negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs.

Bayern are currently weighing up whether to submit an improved bid, and there is a desire from those involved for a quick resolution.

The Bavarians want to reach an agreement before Saturday's German Super Cup fixture against Leipzig, while Kane has indicated that he will not leave once Tottenham's campaign gets underway on Sunday.

With talks continuing over a potential deal, Kane has not travelled to his evening's friendly against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The decision to leave the England captain at home appears to be a sporting one rather than in relation to a potential transfer.

The majority of the Tottenham squad that featured in Sunday's 5-1 friendly victory against Shakhtar Donetsk have not travelled.

Kane scored four goals in the commanding win against the Ukrainian side and received a standing ovation from those in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he was replaced in the 80th minute.

If Kane does remain in North London, there is the possibility that he will walk away on a free transfer at the end of the 2023-24 season.

The 30-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his Tottenham contract, and he currently has no intention of putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou recently addressed speculation surrounding Kane's future, stating that he remains in "open dialogue" with the forward and the club's hierarchy.

Postecoglou will take charge of his first competitive game as Spurs head coach when his side begin their Premier League campaign with an away fixture against Brentford on Sunday.
