Everton have reportedly emerged as late favourites to sign Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United on deadline day.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Championship outfit this summer following his impressive performances for France at Euro 2016.
The likes of Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur had been linked with the midfielder, but the Magpies have refused to budge on their asking price and are unwilling to sell the player.
However, Sky Sports News reports that Everton have made progress in their bid to sign Sissoko, and could meet Newcastle's valuation of £30m.
The Magpies are understood to be willing to accept five instalments of £6m, which would make the deal more manageable for Everton.
Sissoko has made 133 appearances for Newcastle since his move from Toulouse in January 2013, but is yet to feature for Rafael Benitez's side this season.
