Mauricio Pochettino silent on Saido Berahino rumours

Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino confirms that he is close to signing somebody, but refuses to say whether or not it is West Brom striker Saido Berahino.

Mauricio Pochettino has refused to comment on speculation over West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, but did confirm that Tottenham Hotspur had a "private" target.

The striker, 22, has been heavily linked with a summer move away from the Baggies but reports on Thursday suggested that a bid was yet to be lodged.

While Pochettino failed to address the speculation, he did reveal that Spurs were keen to wrap up a deal for another player shortly.

"I never speak about rumours. If you check the last few weeks, a lot of names are linked with us," the Argentine manager told reporters.

"But this is private, our target, and I hope it can happen quick."

Berahino netted 20 goals in all competitions last season.
