Vitesse slam five past Groningen

Vitesse smash five unanswered goals past Groningen in Sunday's Eredivisie clash at the GelreDome.

Vitesse have recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Groningen in Sunday's Eredivisie clash at the GelreDome.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Marvelous Nakamba's effort was parried by Sergio Padt into the path of Dominic Solanke, who made no mistake on the rebound.

Vitesse then doubled their lead on the hour, with Guram Kashia slipping the ball expertly into the path of Kevin Diks, who duly rifled past the Groningen stopper and into the back of the net.

The game was wrapped up just four minutes later when Valeri Qazaishvili collected Kappelhof's pass, rounded Padt and slotted home.

Vitesse continued to pile on the misery against their increasingly beleaguered opponents, as Nathan and Abiola Dauda weighed in with additional goals in the latter stages of the game.

The result sees Peter Bosz's charges climb to sixth in the Eredivisie table, while Groningen remain ninth.
