Richard O'Kelly pens new Walsall deal

Walsall first-team coach Richard O'Kelly signs a contract extension with the League One club until 2016.

Walsall first-team coach Richard O'Kelly has signed a new contract with the League One club.

The 56-year-old will remain at Bescot Stadium until 2016.

O'Kelly returned to the club in May to work alongside manager Dean Smith following two previous spells as a coach with the Saddlers.

"It's always nice to feel wanted," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I have built up an excellent relationship with Dean and indeed all of the staff at the club.

"Things are done in the right way here. We are constantly looking to improve and develop and that can only be achieved by creating the right environment, and I feel that we have that here."

O'Kelly spent eight years as a player at Walsall before retiring in 1989.
