Werder Bremen announce that they have parted company with manager of 14 years Thomas Schaaf.

Werder Bremen have announced that manager Thomas Schaaf will leave the club with immediate effect.

The club have claimed that the 52-year-old has ended his 14-year reign by mutual consent following his side's 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sports director Thomas Eichin has stated that the club are looking for a "new beginning" that doesn't involve Schaaf, who secured the Bundesliga title with Bremen in 1994.

Schaaf is the longest-serving manager in Germany's top flight.
