Sam Allardyce wants more of the same against Stoke City

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce urges his players to maintain their impressive start to the season when they make the trip to Stoke City this weekend.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has called on his players to replicate their heroics against Manchester City when they travel to Stoke City this weekend.

The Hammers continued their impressive start to the season on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over the Premier League champions at Upton Park.

Allardyce now hopes that his team can maintain their recent high standards at the Britannia Stadium this Saturday.

"The victory (over Manchester City) was a fantastic achievement," he told the club's official website. "We were terrific and we deserved our victory. Every man played his best, that was the beauty for me. We got the victory not many people were expecting.

"Our performance had everything. It had grit, determination, quality and desire and I hope we can perform to a similar level this Saturday."

West Ham are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
