West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce admits that he would have been "disappointed" to take nothing from their game with Southampton.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he would have been "disappointed" had his side taken nothing from their clash with Southampton.

The Hammers earned a point in the game at St Mary's as Andy Carroll scored a second-half equaliser to cancel out a Gaston Ramirez strike.

Allardyce told the club's official website: "I'd have been bitterly disappointed if we'd lost this game after the way we played and the chances we created because we really did nullify Southampton and restrict them to very few chances indeed.

"Being as Southampton have beaten Liverpool and Chelsea at home in their previous two home games, this is a big point to us."

West Ham are 12th in the Premier League, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
