Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino feels that his side deserved to take more than a point from their game with West Ham United.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that his side "deserved" more from their draw with West Ham United.

Gaston Ramirez gave the Saints the lead early in the second half but they were pegged back by a goal from Andy Carroll and were forced to settle for a point at St Mary's.

Pochettino told the club's official website: "Over the 90 minutes I think we managed to nullify the way they play well and dealt with the long balls and the rebounds from the long balls.

"We defended really well against them so I think we deserved the victory but in football you can't deserve victories you have to get them and fight for them, we did that today but weren't able to get the win today."

Southampton are 11th in the Premier League, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
