Uwe Rosler looks to stamp his own style on Wigan Athletic

New Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler vows to stamp his own mark on the team having taken over from Owen Coyle last week.

New Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rosler has vowed to stamp his own style of football on the team.

Rosler was appointed the Latics' new manager on Saturday after Owen Coyle left the post by mutual consent earlier last week with the club 14th in the Championship table.

Rosler's visions for the team have drawn comparisons with former boss Roberto Martinez, and the German has acknowledged that there are some similarities but stresses his intention to carve out a reputation of his own.

"Roberto left big footprints for anyone to follow. I want to find my own style of football; I like to play the ball on the ground, I like to play the ball quick, I like to play forward and I want to commit with bodies going forward," Rosler told PA.

"I need a lot of energy in the team, I need the wingers to attack and in some ways we [Rosler and Martinez] are similar, in other ways we are probably not similar. I want to be known for my own style of football."

Wigan lost 2-1 to Millwall on Saturday and will look to end a five-match losing streak in Rosler's first game in charge when they take on Maribor in the Europa League on Thursday.
