Ruben Neves: 'I knew little about Wolverhampton Wanderers before transfer'

Midfielder Ruben Neves admits that he knew little about Wolverhampton Wanderers before he made his summer transfer from Porto.

Ruben Neves has admitted that he was unaware of the stature of Wolverhampton Wanderers when he first arrived at Molineux.

During the summer, the West Midlands outfit pulled off a significant coup in signing Neves from Porto, and the Portuguese prospect has since gone on to impress in 15 appearances in the Championship.

However, while Neves has acknowledged that his transfer was unexpected, the midfielder has said that he is motivated to take Wolves into the Premier League this season.

The 20-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I didn't know very much about them but when I came I saw it was a big club with a lot of history in England, and we're going to try and put Wolves on top again.

"I don't think about [the transfer] too much. I have to do my best every day in training and the games so it doesn't matter for me."

Wolves can move four points clear at the top of the standings with a win against Fulham on Friday night.
