Caroline Wozniacki says that her "fighting spirit" helped her get the better of Christina McHale in the second round of the Australian Open.

Caroline Wozniacki has said that she is pleased with her "fighting spirit" against Christina McHale in the second round of the Australian Open.

The 23-year-old Dane got the better of her opponent 6-0 1-6 6-2 on Thursday.

"I started off really well, I was very aggressive in the first set, she stepped it up a little bit [in the second set]," she said.

"In the third set I just tried to fight for every point. I think my fighting spirit today pulled me through."

Wozniacki will face Garbine Muguruza in the third round of the tournament.
