Rafael Nadal has described winning in the fourth round of the French Open on his birthday as a "very special moment".
The defending champion, who turned 27 today, beat Japan's Kei Nishikori in straight sets to book his place in the quarter-finals.
After being presented with a cake after the match, the third seed said: "Today I played a bit better than in the previous days.
"To celebrate my birthday here on centre court in Paris is a very special moment for me."
Nadal will face Stanislas Wawrinka in the last eight.
