World number four Andy Murray has advanced through to round four of the French Open courtesy of a 6-3 6-4 6-4 win over Santiago Giraldo this afternoon.
Both players began the encounter brightly, with neither able to force an early break of serve.
However, a backhand winner from Murray in the sixth game allowed the Scot to register the first breakthrough. Murray pressed home that advantage by serving out his remaining games to love to claim the opening set.
Murray's streak of 22 straight points on his service game was ended during the next set.
It didn't appear to bother the British number one though, as he broke world number 50 Giraldo once more to open up a two-game advantage.
As Murray served out to win the set, Giraldo had his first break points of the match. The Colombian was unable to take them though, as Murray fought back to win the set.
The final set followed a similar pattern, with Murray requiring just one break of Giraldo's serve to record his place in round four.
He will now face either Tommy Haas or Richard Gasquet in the next round.
