Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has blasted his way through to the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters with a comfortable straight-sets victory over Juan-Martin del Potro.
Del Potro made a promising start to the encounter and was rewarded with an early service break.
World number five Tsonga was then able to break back twice to take the opening set 6-4.
An under-par Del Potro was duly punished in the second as he lost two service games on his way to a 6-1 defeat.
