Arsene Wenger has admitted that he may have "made a mistake" in delaying a decision on his Arsenal future last season.
The 67-year-old waited until the end of May to announce his new two-year deal at the club, following the their fifth-place finish in the Premier League and FA Cup victory.
However a number of key players, including Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, are still yet to commit to the Gunners beyond their current deals, which expire in the next 12 months.
Wenger has conceded that the uncertainty surrounding his own situation may have had a negative impact on the team.
Speaking after his side's Community Shield win over Chelsea, he told Sky Sports News: "It's down to us to put a positive atmosphere around the team.
"A lot was created by my own situation. Maybe I made a mistake."
Wenger has been at the helm of the Gunners since 1996, during which time he won three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and seven Community Shields.
