Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere close to signing new Arsenal deals?

A report claims that Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere have informed Arsene Wenger that they want to remain at Arsenal, with contract talks still ongoing.

Arsenal pair Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere are reportedly on the brink of committing their futures to the club by agreeing new contracts.

Both players are able to speak to foreign teams from this month, as their existing deals have less than six months left to run.

Ozil was widely expected to walk away from the Emirates Stadium in the summer when officially becoming a free agent, while talks with Wilshere were said to have reached an impasse over financial terms.

According to The Sun, however, Arsenal have been handed a major boost as the midfield duo have informed Arsene Wenger that they want to remain in North London for the foreseeable future.

Ozil is understood to want a pay rise on his £150,000-a-week wages, but Wilshere has to make do with a reduced salary if he is to stay on.

A source is quoted by the publication as saying: "Mesut loves it here. He loves living in London and has made it clear he wants to stay.

"Jack is Arsenal through-and-through and wants to become club captain next season. He wants to be a legend. They've both got the contracts on the table and there's not much else to iron out really. They should be all sorted soon."

Wenger has come under fire due to the number of players out of contract in the coming months, with Alexis Sanchez taking advantage of the situation by forcing through a move to Manchester United.
