Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock praises Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo for the "great job" he has done with the club.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has praised Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo for the "great job" he has done with the club.

Wolves sit top of the Championship with six games of the regular season to go, but face Warnock's second-placed Bluebirds in a key clash on Friday evening.

Warnock, who is looking for the eighth promotion of his career, told the Express & Star that he is excited for the match in South Wales.

"I didn't vote for [Nuno] as manager of the season, but he's I think done a great job," the manager said. "We might be the form team but I don't think we're favourites, you'd have to say Wolves are favourites.

"You don't become the top team in the league without being the best team. I think it's the challenge of people like Wolves and Villa that we've got to revel in. We need to play in front of those atmospheres and welcome it, and push ourselves.

"It's a fantastic game. We should be on for a very good crowd, if not a record crowd and Friday night on TV. It's good for Wolves too. We've had a dig at some of the money they've spent but they've had a rough time and all credit to them. We played them once and did quite well against them but I think it'll be a cracking game."

Cardiff are looking to return to the Premier League after being relegated from the top flight in 2014.
