Craig Bellamy admits that Cardiff City would be happy with a 17th-place finish in the Premier League at the end of the upcoming season.

Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy has revealed that the club will be more than happy to take a 17th-place finish at the end of the next Premier League season.

The newly-promoted Bluebirds kick off their first-ever campaign in the division with a trip to West Ham United, and the former Liverpool forward has said that the club are just looking to consolidate their place next season.

"If you offered it me now? We'd take 17th, yes, definitely," Bellamy told Sky Sports News.

"I've been fortunate enough to play for these clubs, but [with Cardiff] it's not just our fanbase, there's some really good things going on. If we can stay here [in the division] for one year, it will put us in a great place."

Malky Mackay's side went up as Championship winners last season.
