Jack Grealish: 'It was not easy to select England over Republic of Ireland'

Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish admits that it was a difficult process when he chose to represent England over the Republic of Ireland.

Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish has admitted that it was difficult to decide on whether to play senior international football for England or the Republic of Ireland.

The 20-year-old confirmed on Monday that he will represent England after months of deliberation.

Grealish, who was eligible for Ireland due to his grandparents, played for the nation at Under-21 level, but has instead opted for his homeland.

On Twitter, the midfielder wrote: "I have decided to give my allegiance to England. It was not an easy decision as Ireland has a special place with me through my family. However, I have decided to represent my country of birth."

Grealish will need clearance from FIFA before he can be selected by England manager Roy Hodgson.
