Harry Kane: 'I want Wayne Rooney's England record'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says that he wants to beat Wayne Rooney's goalscoring record for England.

Harry Kane has said that he wants to break Wayne Rooney's goalscoring record for England.

Rooney scored his 50th international goal during Tuesday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland to surpass Bobby Charlton's record.

"I am sure Wayne will score quite a few more with England. We'll see what he ends up on – and it will give give me a target to aim for," Kane told reporters.

"It is hard to say if his record will ever be broken. Hopefully, one day I will break it, but I have to keep focused in the short term and do the best for my country.

"That is something I want to achieve. This last week has been great, watching how he goes about his business."

Kane has scored three times in four England appearances
