Les Bleuets dominated proceedings on the pitch but were relatively blunt up front for most of the game, not scoring until eight minutes from time.

Corentin Tolisso was instrumental in setting up the winning goal as he slipped the ball through to Georges-Kevin N'Koudou, whose cutback found the onrushing Enzo Crivelli and was drilled home past Conor Brennan.

Adrien Rabiot nearly doubled his side's lead when he hit the woodwork two minutes from time, while Shay McCartan saw his side's only serious attempt saved.

Nevertheless the result - France's third win in four games - paled into insignificance with Jordan Amavi's injury in the second half, the Aston Villa full-back going down in pain clutching his knee and needing to be helped off the pitch.
