Steve Bruce hails "huge win" for Hull City

Hull City boss Steve Bruce praises his troops for securing a "huge win" after beating Swansea City 1-0 at the KC Stadium this afternoon.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has heralded his troops for securing a "huge win" by beating Swansea City 1-0 at the KC Stadium this afternoon.

George Boyd struck a 39th-minute winner to send Hull nine points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League table.

"It's a long way towards safety and a huge win in our season," he told reporters.

"We showed a resilience and determination to get something. Of course there are nerves and edginess but we've seen it through with another clean sheet.

Bruce's side will now turn their attentions toward Sheffield United in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley next weekend, and the 53-year-old hopes that he can give supporters a double celebration this season.

He added: "Now we can concentrate all week on how we're going to play against Sheffield United in the FA Cup, but semi-finals are always nervous and edgy.

"We've gone a long way to staying in this division and a cup final would be a marvellous way to end the season."

Should they negotiate the Blades next Sunday, then City will face either Arsenal or Wigan Athletic in the final next month.
