Ian Rush: 'Luis Suarez is my player of the year'

Ian Rush claims that Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has been the player of the year in the Premier League.

Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush has revealed that Luis Suarez would be his player of the year in the Premier League this season.

Suarez has scored 23 league goals this season, and Rush believes that the Urugayan deserves to be recognised by his fellow players for his form.

The 52-year-old told journalists: "Suarez is my player of the year. Luis has signed a new contract and you can tell by the way he plays he loves playing for Liverpool.

"The supporters love watching him and hopefully he will be there for a long time to come."

Liverpool are currently fourth in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Chelsea.
