Liverpool reportedly reach an agreement to sell 21-year-old midfielder Bobby Clark to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to sell Bobby Clark to Red Bull Salzburg.

The Austrian side are currently managed by Jurgen Klopp's former assistant Pep Lijnders, who took over the reins earlier this summer following his Liverpool exit.

Lijnders is seemingly keen to reunite with one of his former players, with the 41-year-old looking to bolster his squad with the addition of Clark.

Salzburg have been persistent in their pursuit despite reports suggesting that they have previously failed with bids worth £6m and £8.2m.

Salzburg agree Clark transfer

According to BBC Sport, Salzburg have finally made a breakthrough in negotiations, having reached an agreement with Liverpool over a £10m deal.

The report claims that Liverpool have inserted a 17.5% sell-on clause, while there also been a suggestion that the Reds could have first refusal on any future transfer.

Clark is now set to travel to Austria to undergo a medical before he can be unveiled as Salzburg's latest summer addition.

The teenager will join a side who are sitting top of the Austrian Bundesliga after winning their opening two league matches against Grazer AK and Blau-Weiss Linz.

Salzburg are also on the brink of reaching the Champions League main draw, with Lijnders's side set to face Dynamo Kiev in the playoff round.

Clark set to end three-year Liverpool spell

Clark, who is the son of former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark, spent around seven years in the Magpies' academy system before completing a £1.5m move to Liverpool in 2021.

After playing for Liverpool's youth teams, Clark was given the chance to make his debut in the 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth in August 2022.

Clark would play 12 first-team games last season, contributing to Liverpool's attacking efforts with one goal and two assists.

The midfielder also played 48 minutes in February's 1-0 extra-time victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup final, representing his first major honour in senior football.

Clark will hope that the move to Austria will give him the chance to win more silverware, with Salzburg looking to win back the league title that they lost last season.
