Javier Mascherano open to Premier League return

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano reveals that he would be prepared to play for another Premier League outfit aside from former club Liverpool.

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has revealed that he would be prepared to play for another Premier League club other than Liverpool.

The 31-year-old spent three years with Liverpool between 2007 and 2010 before joining Barcelona, where he has picked up three La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns.

The Argentine has said that he will always have a fondness for the Reds, but would still play for another English club if the right opportunity were to arise.

"My feelings for Liverpool don't mean I'm tied to them," Mascherano told The Guardian.

"I have a lot of affection for them and always will have, but if in the future a Premier League team gave me a chance, you can't say: 'No, I'd only play for one team.' We're professionals, this is our living. Whatever happens, my feelings for Liverpool won't change."

Mascherano famously arrived in the English game, alongside Carlos Tevez, at West Ham United in 2006.
