Manchester United transfer roundup: Red Devils aiming to secure Antony deal, Toni Kroos emerges as possible target

Sports Mole rounds up the latest Manchester United transfer news, including a £40m move for Ajax's Antony and possible swoop for Real Madrid's Toni Kroos.

Manchester United are working to boost their squad during this summer's transfer window, with a number of players being linked with moves to Old Trafford over the last few weeks.

The Red Devils will officially resume training on Monday before embarking on a pre-season tour in July, and new head coach Erik ten Hag will be determined to have some fresh faces on board as soon as possible.

Here, Sports Mole provides a transfer roundup of the biggest stories involving the 20-time English champions, who will play their first friendly of the summer against Liverpool on July 12.

Man United are reportedly aiming to conclude a £40m deal for Ajax attacker Antony this week.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2021-22 campaign for his Dutch club, scoring 12 goals and registering 10 assists in 32 appearances.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils have made progress in their pursuit of the Brazil international, with officials from the club travelling to Amsterdam on Tuesday for transfer talks.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions are now closing in on a £40m deal for the attacker, who has a close relationship with new Man United boss Ten Hag.

Antony has scored 22 goals and registered 20 assists in 78 appearances for Ajax since joining the Dutch giants from Sao Paulo in July 2020.

KROOS 'EMERGES AS MIDFIELD OPTION FOR MAN UNITED'

Man United have reportedly been alerted to the potential availability of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils are determined to boost their midfield options for next season, with Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong still being strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

However, according to SER Deportivos, Kroos has also emerged as a potential option for the English giants.

The former Germany international's contract at Bernabeu is due to expire next June, and he has allegedly told Los Blancos that he does not want to sign an extension.

The 32-year-old was again an important player for Carlo Ancelotti's during the 2021-22 campaign, making 44 appearances in all competitions, contributing three goals and three assists.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly happy for Man United to bring a new centre-forward to the club during this summer's transfer window.

Edinson Cavani's departure has left the Red Devils short of options in the final third of the field, and Ten Hag is believed to want a new striker this summer to ease the burden on Ronaldo.

According to The Express, the Portugal international has given his current side the green light to sign a player in his area of the field during the current market.

Roma's Tammy Abraham, Porto's Evanilson and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski are among the players to be linked with switches to Old Trafford in recent days.

A move for Lewandowski is considered to be highly unlikely, though, with Barcelona firmly at the head of the queue for the Poland international.
