Dean Henderson's proposed move to Nottingham Forest from Manchester United this summer is reportedly in jeopardy.

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson's proposed move to Nottingham Forest during this summer's transfer window is reportedly in jeopardy.

The 26-year-old spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Forest, but he was restricted to just 20 appearances in all competitions due to a thigh problem that he suffered in January.

Henderson has been training with Man United during pre-season, but he has not featured for the Red Devils, having not yet fully recovered from his thigh issue.

Forest are keen to re-sign the England international this summer, although it is understood that the Reds initially want to bring him back to the club on loan, with the view to a permanent move in 2024.

Man United are allegedly open to a loan agreement providing that there is an obligation to buy included in the deal, with the 20-time English champions wanting the full payment in January.

According to Football Insider, Henderson remains Forest's priority goalkeeping target this summer, but a switch to the City Ground is currently in jeopardy.

The report claims that there have been discussions over a £15m fee, which could potentially rise to £20m once various add-ons are taken into account.

However, Forest are concerned by Henderson's thigh problem, and the fact that he has not yet featured during pre-season is an issue for Steve Cooper's side.

The Englishman is not believed to be in the plans of Man United head coach Erik ten Hag moving forward despite the uncertainty in the goalkeeping department at the club.

As it stands, Andre Onana will start the campaign as the number one following his big-money move from Inter Milan, with Tom Heaton providing the back-up.

However, there has been speculation surrounding Heaton's future, with the experienced stopper said to want first-team action at this stage of his career, while a departure for Henderson would lead to Man United signing another stopper, with Urawa Red Diamonds youngster Zion Suzuki a target.

Henderson, who came through the youth system at Old Trafford, has represented the Red Devils on 29 occasions in all competitions.

The Englishman was Man United's number one for a spell of the 2020-21 campaign but was ultimately unable to properly oust David de Gea, who left the club when his contract expired at the end of June.
