Robin van Persie due at Fenerbahce today

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie will arrive in Istanbul today ahead of his proposed move to Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce have confirmed that Robin van Persie is due to arrive at the club later today ahead of his proposed move from Manchester United.

The Turkish side have been in talks with the Premier League club in a bid to bring the Dutch international to Istanbul, after he struggled for regular first-team action last season.

A statement on the club's website said: "Previously we reported that we had begun transfer negotiations with Manchester United and the Dutch player Robin van Persie. On the evening of Sunday July 12, he is coming to Istanbul."

Van Persie scored 10 goals for United last season.
