John Carver: 'Steve McClaren's tiki-taka not working'

Ex-Newcastle United boss John Carver suggests that the tiki-taka style that Steve McClaren has adopted is not working.

Former Newcastle United manager John Carver has claimed that the tiki-taka style that his successor Steve McClaren has adopted is failing.

The Magpies sit bottom of the Premier League with two points from five matches following their defeat at West Ham United on Monday evening.

Carver has suggested that Newcastle are struggling in attack and are also vulnerable in defence.

"They have to start and get players running beyond and when you play this tiki-taka football, where you keep the ball, you keep the ball, it is dead easy for West Ham just to get back in that solid shape," he told beIN Sport.

"Make it difficult so they can't come through you and then say right, turn the ball over, on that transition, go forward and you see the results."

Newcastle host Watford on Saturday.
