QPR chairman Tony Fernandes admits that the club's transfer window outlay is a "gamble".

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has admitted that the club are taking a gamble with their transfer window outlay.

QPR are currently bottom of the Premier League and spent over £20m in the January transfer window in an effort to avoid relegation.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Fernandes conceded that the spending is a risk but said that the money being invested is being done so in a sensible way.

"Anyone who says we are gambling then, of course, we are," said Fernandes.

"I'm an accountant, I run businesses. We are sensible with what we are doing. I don't think there is any recklessness there.

"If you analyse it we haven't spent that much money on transfers and as for our wage bill, when I look at other clubs when they put their results out then ours is not too bad and there is now value in the squad."

The Rs added Loic Remy, Christopher Samba, Yun Suk-Young and Jermaine Jenas to their squad during the transfer window as well as taking Andros Townsend on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
