Slaven Bilic: 'Dimitri Payet makes players around him better'

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic believes that new signing Dimitri Payet is a positive influence to his teammates and makes them play better.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has praised the impact of Dimitri Payet, claiming that the midfielder is a positive influence to his teammates.

The 28-year-old, signed from Marseille in the summer, weighed in with a match-winning brace against Newcastle United on Monday night, which saw the Hammers up to fifth in the Premier League table.

Bilic told Sky Sports News: "We really did well in the transfer window. Payet is a player I wanted from the start. It happened so quickly, I couldn't believe it - he came in five days.

"I've know him for a long time. He is one of those players who is not only a great player but he makes players around him better."

Payet has scored four goals and provided seven assists in his last 13 league appearances for West Ham and Marseille.
