Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Milan Skriniar to Aston Villa, Edson Alvarez to Monaco and a three-way battle for Igor Jesus

Aston Villa have reportedly been handed the opportunity to sign Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Milan Skriniar this January in order to cover for the injured Pau Torres.

Torres broke his metatarsal at the end of 2024, and manager Unai Emery has revealed the Spaniard will miss the next two months of action, leaving Villa without a key defender during a crucial part of the season.

There will be fears about leaving themselves short though, given the injury history of Tyrone Mings and Diego Carlos, who will now tussle for a starting spot in Torres's absence.

To alleviate those concerns, the Daily Mail claim that PSG's out-of-favour defender could move to Villa Park this month.

Ever since moving from Inter Milan on a free transfer 18 months ago, Skriniar has not settled in the French capital, and he has been unable to break into the first team.

The Slovakian has played just five Ligue 1 games this season, and manager Luis Enrique has snubbed him entirely in PSG's last eight matches, meaning an exit is highly likely this month.

Alvarez to follow Lopetegui out the door at West Ham?

From a potential outgoer from Ligue 1 to a possible incomer, West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez has reportedly been approached by Monaco over a move this month.

Since a £35m move from Ajax last summer, Alvarez has not hit the same heights in a West Ham shirt, and following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui, many players at the club could be in danger of being moved on.

Alvarez is contracted at the London Stadium until 2028, but Fabrizio Romano claims the Ligue 1 club are working hard to make a potentially tricky deal happen.

It is unlikely Monaco will be willing to pay Alvarez's entire wage, or agree to a transfer fee up front, meaning many issues still need to be ironed out at this stage, but representatives are said to be in contact with the Premier League club.

Monaco have been short on numbers in midfield so far this season, especially with Denis Zakaria suffering with a few injury setbacks, leaving Lamine Camara and Soungoutou Magassa as the only other options available to Adi Hutter.

Three Premier League clubs in the hunt for Igor Jesus

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town have reportedly joined Fulham and Brentford in the race for highly-rated Brazil striker Igor Jesus.

The 23-year-old, who has had an unconventional career so far, spending four years in the UAE, burst onto the scene in 2024, helping Botafogo to the Brazilian title and the Copa Libertadores.

Not only that, Jesus impressed for Brazil in two crucial World Cup qualifiers in October, scoring in the narrow win over Chile, before leading the line again in an emphatic win over Peru.

The Sun claim that the player is keen on a move to the Premier League, with relegation-threatened Ipswich joining the race alongside West London rivals Fulham and Brentford.

All three clubs are well stocked on striking options, so it is unclear whether they see Jesus as a player for the future, but it is believed Botafogo are holding out for a fee in the region of £21m for the striker.

Top scorer Liam Delap has been Ipswich's most important player so far, and Brentford attackers Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa are among the most clinical duos in the Premier League, while Fulham pair Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz have both proven they have the scoring touch this season too.
