Gary Cahill: 'Arsenal are title contenders'

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill admits that Arsenal will be "pushing at the top" of the Premier League table this season.

Gary Cahill believes that Arsenal will be "pushing at the top" of the Premier League table after the Gunners won the Community Shield.

The Premier League champions lost 1-0 at Wembley yesterday, giving Arsene Wenger his first ever win over a side managed by Jose Mourinho.

The defender told the club's website: "They've started well, they've got a good squad and I think they'll be one of many pushing at the top this season. I'm sure everyone has that belief at the start of the season. People talk and talk but the bottom line is when the season starts.

"We're confident, we have a good squad and still have another game on Wednesday [against Fiorentina], and more time to train before we start. We'll be strong but it's a tough league and everyone else will be strong as well."

Chelsea host Swansea City on the opening day of the Premier League season, while Arsenal begin their campaign against West Ham United.
