Alan Hansen believes that Tottenham Hotspur must beat Chelsea on Wednesday to stand any chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Alan Hansen believes that Tottenham Hotspur's clash with Chelsea on Wednesday is a must-win for Andre Villas-Boas's side.

Spurs are fifth in the Premier League and are two points behind north London rivals Arsenal, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Former Liverpool defender Hansen, who is now a pundit for the BBC, believes that the pressure is on Spurs to get a result if they are to have any chance of playing in Europe's premier competition next season.

"I backed Spurs to finish fourth earlier in the season but now it is looking a genuine struggle for them and quite simply they've got to go to Chelsea and win on Wednesday," he wrote in his column in The Telegraph.

"This was always going to be massive game but it is mega now and there is no doubt the pressure is on Spurs and you have got to look at it and think they are outsiders and in real trouble now.

"Chelsea will be red-hot favourites to finish in the top four, when you consider the games they've got left, while I also believe Arsenal will be home and hosed after their remarkable run over the last few months."

Spurs go into the game after beating Southampton 1-0 on Saturday.
